The workshop resulted, among other things, in the creation of the DPVCG Community Group.
We created a W3C Community Group with the name Data Privacy Vocabularies and Controls (DPVCG). It is open to everybody interested in creating standard vocabularies for privacy-related data.

The paper Evaluating Query and Storage Strategies for RDF Archives studies how to measure the performance of RDF databases. HDTQ: Managing RDF Datasets in Compressed Space presents a compact representation of RDF as 4-tuples that can be efficiently queried.
The deadline to submit something to our workshop ‘Data Privacy Controls and Vocabularies’ is 28 February 2018.
The latest issue of the Semantic Web Journal includes a special issue on ‘The Semantic Web and Linked Data: Security, Privacy and Policy’.
Our paper ‘Designing a GDPR-compliant and Usable Privacy Dashboard’ will be published, with enhancements, in the IFIP series.
A workshop on Linked Data and Privacy, jointly organized by W3C and SPECIAL, and hosted by the Vienna University of Economics and Business, will take place on 17 & 18 April 2018 (new dates!)

Vienna University of Economics and Business is looking for a staff member (a master student or PhD student) to work, among other things, on the SPECIAL project.
The paper Transparent Personal Data Processing: The Road Ahead, by four members of the SPECIAL project, has been accepted for presentation at TELERISE 2017. The paper discusses ideas around the use of a log, or ledger, to keep track of personal data and who it is shared with.
The seminar of June 25–30, 2017 at the famous Schloss Dagstuhl in Germany was titled ‘Federated Semantic Data Management’. SPECIAL's Sabrina Kirrane and Piero Bonatti took part. Their talk, simply called ‘SPECIAL’, presented the aims of the project.
MyData 2017 is a conference that takes place in two cities (Tallinn and Helsinki), on two days (August 30 and September 1), with a boat ride in between.
The requirements and design of SPECIAL's planned user interface for end-users are a topic at the IFIP Summer School 2017.
Sabrina Kirrane will present SPECIAL next week at the ESWC 2017 conference in Portoroz, Slovenia. If you happen to be at the conference, come to Track 3 on Wednesday, 31 May. Sabrina will talk about SPECIAL just after the afternoon break, at 16:00.

SPECIAL kick off meeting was organized at the European Commission, Luxembourg on 15 -16 January 2017.
The project consortium met over two days in order to ensure a quick start of all project activities and define in details the project first months workplan. Project partners also took part in the Information and Networking Days on Horizon 2020 Big Data Public-Private Partnership topics 2017 organized in Luxembourg followed by the Kick-off meeting.
